Speaker not working? Try this

  • Check that your device volume isn't muted or turned down low.
  • Check your left/right audio balance setting in your operating system's sound settings.
  • Disconnect any Bluetooth speakers or headphones that might be capturing the audio output.
  • Unplug wired headphones — some devices keep routing sound there even after you unplug.
  • Restart your device to clear out any stuck audio driver state.
  • Gently clean the speaker grille — dust and debris can muffle or block sound.
  • Try this test in another browser or on another device to rule out a page or app issue.

Is your Vivo speaker too quiet, crackling, or silent? Use this free Vivo speaker test online to check the left channel, right channel, bass and volume straight from your browser. It works on all Vivo mobile.

What is a Vivo speaker test?

A speaker test plays a sound through your phone so you can check three things:

  • Does the speaker work? You should hear a clear sound.
  • Is the sound clean? It should not crackle, buzz, or sound muffled.
  • Is the volume normal? The sound should be loud enough at a medium volume setting.

When you test online, your browser plays the sound. This makes the test quick, because you only open a web page and press a button.

How to use the Vivo speaker test online

  1. Prepare the phone. Turn silent mode and Do Not Disturb off, disconnect Bluetooth earbuds, unplug headphones, and take the case off.
  2. Set media volume to about 50%. Use the volume key and open the volume slider so you are changing media volume, not ringtone volume.
  3. Tap Start. Your browser blocks sound until you tap, so the tone only begins after you press the button.
  4. Play Left, then Right, then Both. Each side should sound clear and similar in loudness.
  5. Run the frequency sweep. Listen for the low bass hum, the mid-range tone and the high tone; any gap, buzz or sudden drop is worth noting.

If every step sounds clean, your Vivo speaker hardware is working and any problem you noticed is probably an app, call or settings issue.

Fix 1: Vivo speaker has no sound

Try these steps in order. Test again after each step.

  1. Raise the media volume. Press the volume button, open the slider, and raise Media volume. Also check Ringtone and Call volume, since each one is separate.
  2. Turn Bluetooth off. Your phone may still be connected to earbuds, a watch, or a car.
  3. Clear the headphone mode. Plug in a headphone cable, then pull it out. Sometimes the phone believes headphones are still connected.
  4. Turn off silent mode and Do Not Disturb.
  5. Restart your phone. A restart clears many small software glitches.
  6. Update your phone. Open Settings, find System update, and install the latest Funtouch OS or OriginOS update.

Still no sound after all six steps? The speaker may be damaged. Jump to the repair section below.

Fix 2: Vivo speaker volume is low

Low volume is the most common speaker complaint. The cause is often simple.

  • Remove the case and screen film. Some cases cover the speaker holes. A thick film can also block the sound.
  • Clean the speaker grille. Dust and pocket lint build up in the small holes. Use a soft dry brush or a dry cotton swab. Do not use a pin, a needle, water, or compressed air. These can push dirt deeper or damage the speaker.
  • Turn off sound effects. Open Settings, go to Sound and vibration, and switch off any equaliser or sound effect. Then test again.
  • Compare two apps. Play the same song in two different apps. If only one app is quiet, the problem is that app, not your speaker.
  • Let the phone cool down. If your phone is hot from charging or gaming, the sound can become weaker. Wait a few minutes and try again.

Tip: Menu names can differ a little between Funtouch OS and OriginOS and between phone models. On both, volume and sound effects are in Settings under Sound and vibration.

Fix 3: Crackling, buzzing, or distorted sound

Distorted sound means the sound is harsh, rough, or broken.

  • Lower the volume a little. If the sound is clean at 80% but crackles at 100%, the speaker is reaching its limit.
  • Test in another app. If only one app crackles, that app is the cause. Update it or reinstall it.
  • Check for water. If the phone got wet, the sound may be muffled or fuzzy. Keep the phone speaker side down in a dry place, away from heat. Do not use a hair dryer. The sound often returns after the moisture dries.
  • Try safe mode. Safe mode turns off apps you installed. On most phones, press and hold the power-off option to find it. If the sound is clean in safe mode, an installed app is causing the noise.
  • Back up and reset. This is the last software step. Back up your photos and files, then reset the sound settings or the whole phone. Only do this if the earlier steps did not help.

Fix 4: Sound plays on one side only

Single-speaker phones play the same sound on both sides, so this may not be a problem at all. If your phone has two speakers and only one works:

  1. Open your accessibility or sound settings and look for balance or mono audio options.
  2. Make sure the balance is in the middle and mono audio is off.
  3. Test again.

If the problem stays, the second speaker or its connection may be damaged.

Use the Vivo hardware test menu as a second check

Many Vivo phones have a hidden test menu for checking parts like the speaker, screen, and camera. People often open it by typing a code in the Phone app.

  • *#558# is widely reported to open this menu on some Vivo models.
  • Some models use *#*#64663#*#* instead.

Please note: These codes are not the same on every model and software version. Newer updates may turn them off. If a code does nothing, skip this step. Only run the speaker and receiver tests. Do not change any other setting in the menu.

If the built-in test and the online test both fail, the problem is almost certainly in the hardware.

When does your Vivo speaker need repair?

Visit a service centre if all of these are true:

  • The online test is silent, crackly, or one-sided after you tried the fixes above.
  • Your wired headphones work fine. This shows the phone can make sound, but the speaker cannot.
  • The problem is still there in safe mode and after a reset.

Before you go

  • Check if your phone is still under warranty.
  • Back up your photos, contacts, and files.
  • Tell the technician you ran a speaker test and what it showed. This helps them find the fault faster.

How to keep your speaker healthy

  • Do not play music at full volume for hours.
  • Clean the grille once a month with a soft dry brush.
  • Keep the phone away from water, steam, and dusty places.
  • Use a case with proper speaker openings.
  • Install system updates when they arrive.
  • Never push pins or sharp tools into the speaker holes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I test the speaker on my Vivo phone?

Open this page in Chrome, press Start, and play the left, right, and both tones with media volume near 50%. If the sound is clear and even, your speaker works.

Why is my Vivo speaker sound so low?

The usual causes are a case or dust blocking the holes, sound effects or volume limits, a low media volume, or an old speaker. Follow the low-volume steps in this guide in order.

Does this test use my microphone?

No. It only plays sound. It does not record anything, and nothing is uploaded.

Why do left and right sound the same on my phone?

Your Vivo may have one speaker at the bottom. Both sides then come out of the same speaker. This is normal.

Can this online test replace a repair shop check?

No. It checks sound playback through your browser. It does not measure loudness in decibels, test the microphone, or find the exact broken part. If the problem stays, visit a service centre.

Can I use this test on an iQOO or another Android phone?

Yes. The sounds play in any modern browser. The fixes also work for iQOO and most Android phones, though menu names may differ slightly.

Should I factory reset my Vivo phone to fix the speaker?

Only as a last step, after cleaning, restarting, checking settings, and trying safe mode. Always back up your data first. If the test still fails after a reset, the speaker hardware is the cause.

My speaker stopped working after water touched the phone. What should I do?

Turn the phone off if it is still wet, keep it speaker-side down in a dry place, and let it dry naturally. Do not use heat. If sound does not return after a day or two, visit a service centre.
